#27. Your Hair’s Going Gray . . . And You’re Okay With That

combating midlife negativity

It may have started a few years ago. Perhaps you used to fret over those first few gray hairs tangled in your brush or laying waste in your bathroom sink. You may have even shed a tear or two.

Not today.

You know what’s up. Gray hair can be sexy as hell! And no, I’m not referring to gray-haired men.

You have no interest in covering up that wonderful gray with dye to give the illusion of youth. You and your hair are fine just the way you are, thank you very damn much.

Despite your early trepidations, you now embrace your crowning glory. It brings you out of the background, hidden in the shadows, and puts you front and center for all the world to see.

You accept your beauty! You and your glorious hair!

I decided to go grey last fall after coloring for years. I am going for my final trim to lose the ‘transition color’ next week and what a relief. I have gone back and forth with liking/hating the grey but now I am thrilled. I recommend a good stylist to help with the change. Mine lightened my hair and kept toning down each visit so I never had that ‘skunk line’!!

I went grey several years ago and I have never regretted it. I had been prematurely grey, and had been coloring for well over 25 years, and it was actually my hairdresser who encouraged me.
