#47. Getting Your Priorities Straight

combating midlife negativity

Once upon a time, your priorities were all screwed up. You placed too much weight on the things that didn’t matter much, and you paid less attention to the things that you should have been focusing on.

Did your priorities used to look something like this?:

1)  Hit the clubs and get my party on all weekend, every weekend!
2) Call out sick at work . . . I hate my job, my boss and my coworkers.

2) Buy that gorgeous leather Gucci reversible tote.
3) Purchase cruise tickets for me and my boo.
4) Get my do done every Saturday like clockwork.

5) Pay rent and bills with any money that’s leftover.

That was then . . . this is now. You’re not that woman anymore. You know what’s important in your life, and it starts with you.

You reflect on what it is you want, and then perhaps you’ve created an action plan so that the things which are important to you are right there in black and white. You’ve done your reality check and now you’re honest with yourself and you know your limitations.

Sure, sometimes your priorities change, but here’s the thing: you dictate when those changes occur because your priorities are based on the things that you want out of life. That ‘want’ could be to benefit yourself or someone else, but it is nevertheless your prerogative.

Your priorities . . . yeah, you’ve got ’em straight.

I know mine certainly have, Paula. I’m more mindful to make better decisions, too.
