#31. Calling Out Bullsh*t When You See It

combating midlife negativity

Bullshit. You’ve seen it all your life. Now, you just can’t keep your mouth shut anymore.

When you see bullshit, you call out bullshit. And for some reason, now that you’ve come into your own in midlife, you’re noticing bullshit running rampant all over the place. It’s like a plague!

I bet you feel powerful — sharpening your BS radar and calling out all the foolishness. You’re so in tune with that radar, you even call yourself out on bullshit from time to time. Look at you . . . being an equal opportunity caller-outer!

Sure, you might feel a little bad bursting someone’s bubble when you call them out; that’s to be expected. But here’s the thing: you’re honing the art of calling out without disrespecting. After all, you wanna be real, not offensive . . . am I right?

Now that you’re in midlife, people expect you to fade into the background, be nice and quiet and not stir the pot. Pffffth.

Go on, girl . . . keep on calling out bullshit when you see it.

Oh, yeah! I have to say, I’m best at calling it on my own BS. I used to delude myself more. Things get real as we get… well… tired of the pervasive BS, from ourselves as well as others.

I’m not as disciplined as you are, Lisa; I don’t call myself out on it much, but when it’s brought to my attention, I acknowledge my BS!
