This was a difficult post to write. But it was the right choice for me.

Aside from random posts here and there, I’ve taken a sabbatical from social media. Not intentionally, but it turned out to be for the best. It gave me time to take an introspective look at myself. Out of that introspection came a few insights that, while they were hard to come by, are my truths:

1. Our lives are lived in seasons. The past 7 years of Midlife-A-Go-Go have been wonderful. I’ve met some amazing midlife women. Now it’s time for me to move on to the next season of my life and retire Midlife-A-Go-Go;
2. “Midlife-A-Go-Go the podcast!” went on hiatus in 7/21. During the 3 years that I lent my voice to the podosphere, I hope I encouraged, entertained and enlightened. But now I’ve decided to turn off the show’s mic for good; and
3. I’m strong…until I’m not so strong.

My MS diagnosis has made life hellish. Visits to the Urgent Care, medications galore, IV infusions that’re supposed to slow down the disease’s progression, and pain…oh, the pain. Just when I think I’m stable and feeling halfway decent, here comes another symptom to pester me. My woes have run the gamut from edema to a dangerously low white blood cell count. My MS specialist recently told me that while looking over my records, he said to himself, “This poor woman can’t catch a break.”

So why am I telling you this? Chances are this’ll be a fleeting post in a sea of posts that, once read, you’ll forget about. I know it won’t change the course of your day, but I just wanted to put it out there.

While this is the ‘end’ of Midlife-A-Go-Go, it kind of isn’t. You can STILL read content on the site and listen to podcast episodes; I just won’t be publishing any new content. And I’ll still be here on IG with posts to inspire, encourage and rally for all of the fabulous midlife women. There’s an old saying: “Every goodbye ain’t gone.”

Thank you to all of you who have supported me throughout the years. I hope Midlife-A-Go-Go was a trusted resource and a site you’ll continue to visit.

Been a tough week? Coworkers got on your one last good nerve? Kids been yelling, "Mommy! Mommy! Mommy!" all week and you're hearing that refrain in your sleep? Doggie had an accident on your favorite cardigan? Cat yakked on your favorite cardigan? Fender bender with an uninsured driver costing you plenty?

Life is tough sometimes.

When life gives you lemons, be resourceful, girl! Don't complain (too much) about it. Make lemonade out of those lemons.

You deserve it. It's been one helluva week.

Midlife woman, when you start each new day and you think to yourself, "What's on my to-do list today?" are you forgetting to do something? Do you make convenient excuses to NOT do a particular something because it's easier to skip over it? Have you pushed that certain something to the sideline indefinitely because you either afraid to deal with it, you don't have the energy, or you're taking a "I'll get to it when I can" attitude?

There really is no time like the present. If you start on that thing now, you're one day ahead of dealing with it tomorrow.

Come on. Do it. Do the damn thing already.

I see you. Do you see me? Do you see women who loo

I see you. Do you see me? Do you see women who look like me? It's midlife women you should be seeing. And, in my opinion, midlife women of color should be in your viewfinder as well.

This whole "invisible woman syndrome" hits my demographic hard. We're not disposable, we're not irrelevant, and we're not the people that you step on while trying to do your thing.

See us. Hear us. Acknowledge us.
